Email forwarding

Simply place your CUBINlab e-mail address in a ~/.forward file on the account you wish to forward your e-mail from. Also make sure the file is world-readable (chmod a+r ~/.forward).

For example, suppose your e-mail address is j.doe@ieee.org. To forward this to your CUBINlab account, your ~/.forward file will contain the single line,

john_doe@cubinlab.ee.unimelb.edu.au

on the UNIX shell account where you originally receive e-mail destined for that ieee.org address, assuming that your CUBINlab username is john_doe.

Note that in reality, you would normally redirect your IEEE e-mail alias to your CUBINlab account. The example above was simply an illustration showing how to redirect any UNIX e-email account to CUBINlab. Furthermore, if you are forwarding your IEEE e-mail, it is a good idea to set your return address in your email client on CUBINlab (e.g. PINE or Mutt) to your original IEEE e-mail address. This way your e-mail recipients won't even realise you are really reading and sending email through CUBINlab.
